After a relaxing two months at home, I was due to travel to Oxford. Every year, we hold a workshop on public health where we discuss the work done by our organization and the lessons learned from it. It's always very interesting and informative, so I'm always eager to participate. I also get to learn about new experiments and innovations happening around the world. In addition, I get to meet and interact with around 60-70 people like me who work with me. This year, I spoke to everyone about the coupon method of distributing relief materials that I implemented in Haiti. Everyone was very interested.
Today, the workshop ended, and I will return to Ahmedabad tomorrow. In the evening, I was informed that I was now going to Ethiopia. For 4 months. I am very happy because I will get to know about a new country. Ethiopia is the 27th largest country in the world with a population of 85 million. There is currently a drought in the country, and the Tigray region has been severely affected by it. I have to work to minimize the impact of the drought on the people here. In this, I have to work to ensure that people get water, maintain general health, and provide them with the necessary things to do so.
As soon as I arrive in Ahmedabad, I will have to get a visa and go to Ethiopia once I get it. More about this after I get there....
