Radha rushed in and plopped down in her father's lap. "How are you, my dear?" her father asked. "Why didn't you go down to play today?"
"No, I don't feel like going today," Radha replied. "I've already finished my lessons."
"That's great, my smart girl," her father said, handing her two chocolates. Radha took the chocolates and went to another room. But her smile was missing today. She didn't seem happy.
A little later, Radha came back to her father, sat down next to him, and started watching TV. Her father asked her, "What's wrong? Why are you so quiet today?"
Radha replied, "Papa, my chunni dress is old. I need a new one."
"But, beta," her father said, "we just bought that dress for you a while ago. It's not even worn out yet."
"No," Radha insisted, "I don't like the design anymore. I need a new one."
Her father didn't respond for a moment, so Radha asked again, "Tell me, Papa, when will you bring me a new chunni dress?"
Radha's father said, "We'll get you a new one when this one wears out."
Radha knew that the dress wouldn't get old or torn out quickly. Her father wouldn't buy her a new one until then. Suddenly, an idea struck her. She went to another room, took out her scissors, and carefully cut a small tear in the dress. Then she put on the dress and ran downstairs to play.
After playing for a while, she came back and sat next to her father. Looking at him for a moment, she said, "Papa, I was playing downstairs when my dress ripped. Please bring me a new chunni dress now."
The next day, Radha's father brought her the chunni dress of her choice!
